| Circle Game |
|||||||||||
This piece began as a challenge to see if I could make a dress form look like it was made from hoops or connecting circles. The dress form is composed of these connecting circles which refer to cells which make up the human body. I have been doing research on memory and how memory is not just maintained in the brain, but it is also contained in our organs and muscles, so the entire form is made of these memory cells. Around the collar of the form is a ring of DNA strands that connect to the word "Quien", which in Spanish means-"Who" (who we are is determined by our cells and our DNA). There is an untethered red knot over the left side or the heart side, suggesting a loss to the heart. It also refers to a biopsy I had on that side earlier this year. |
