| Nuestra Agua Nuestra Sangre |
|||||||||||
This piece contains information about the Penitente Brotherhood in Northern New Mexico. The Sangre de Cristo mountain range is seen on the top of the chair and from it flows blood, which turns into water on the lower part of the chair. A small, silver morada sits on the place where the blood changes to water. The crossbars of the chair are carved with the words: "El que sufrio por me" (He who suffered for me). The back of the chair has an image of the crucified Christ. The chair is sitting on a bier of stair spindles, which are a reference to both the processions of Spain during Holy Week and to the families whose heritage includes the Penitente Brotherhood. |
