A series of interconnected arms and hands make of the skirt of this dress form. Some of the hands are holding the others back and some are helping support the other hands and emerge or receed into the blue curtain/dress. A few of the hands are reaching inside the blue fabric of the dress that is made from raised text that reads: I search throuth the photographs of my family to find truths, but the photographs mean nothing to me without my actual memory of time and events. The text on the side of the form covers most of the body but leaves the left breast, where the heart if located, partially exposed. The torso has carved eyes on it, which ask the viewer to reflect on the different ways in which we preserve our life stories- by seeing, then making memories, then preserving them in writing, or with memorials, or other ways. |
