These two chairs tell a story of the
recent adoption of a Chinese baby girl. The chair forms relate to the
telling of the story. I use the chair form to refer to the act of sharing
a story or memory. We often sit near each other to relate an important
occurrence or memory and I want to acknowledge the action of its telling.
The chair forms also relate formally to the human body (arms, legs, back,
seat) making the telling of the story a more personal and intimate form
of human activity. |
